Introduction:
You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Dr. Patricia Daly, Vice-President, Public Health & Chief Medical Health Officer, and Dr. Teresa Tsang, Executive Director, VCHRI. The purpose of this study is to understand the current use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within our organization and to identify the needs and challenges faced by staff in integrating AI into their work. You are being invited to complete this survey because your work involves VCH or an affiliated health authority or academic research institute.
Purpose of the Study:
The insights gained from this survey will help us develop resources, infrastructure, and support systems to enhance AI-driven initiatives across research, clinical care, and hospital operations. Your participation is crucial in shaping the future of AI implementation within our organization.
Procedures:
- Participation: If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey.
- Duration: The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
- Content: The survey includes questions about your role, experience with AI technologies, challenges faced, support needs, and future interests related to AI.
- Voluntary Participation: Participation is entirely voluntary, and you may decline to answer any question or withdraw at any time without any penalty.
Confidentiality and Anonymity:
- Anonymity: The survey is anonymous. No personally identifiable information will be collected unless you choose to provide it.
- Data Security: All responses will be kept confidential and stored securely on password-protected servers accessible only to the research team.
Data Use and Open Access:
- Use of Data: Data will be analyzed in aggregate form, and findings will be reported without identifying any individual participants.
- Open Access to Research Results: The results of this study may be published in academic journals or shared in research repositories to comply with journal requirements. This means that other researchers and the public may have access to the study's findings.
- Data Availability: The data made available will be in a de-identified format, meaning that any personal identifiers in the data will be removed to protect your anonymity. However, despite these precautions, there is a minimal risk that someone could potentially re-identify you based on the information provided.
- Data use: The VCH Data AI Policy Task Force and VCH leadership will have access to the data for future analysis.
Study Results:
- The DAPT team will circulate aggregate results to share key findings of the survey with the VCH community.
- The results of the study may be published and shared publicly in academic journals, white papers, industry publications.
Risks and Benefits:
- Risks: There are minimal risks associated with this study. You may experience mild discomfort when reflecting on challenges or needs in your work environment.
- Benefits: While there may be no direct benefit to you, your participation will contribute to improving AI resources and support within our organization, potentially enhancing your work environment and patient care outcomes.
Voluntary Participation and Right to Withdraw:
- Voluntary: Your participation is voluntary. You have the right to refuse to participate or to withdraw from the study at any time without any consequences.
- Withdrawal: If you choose to withdraw, you may simply exit the survey. Please note that once you submit the survey, your responses cannot be removed because they are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you.
