As part of the planning process, engagement was delivered in two phases. Health Vision Sea to Sky was initially planned across an 18-month timeline with three distinct phases of engagement. To ensure planning accurately reflected the unique needs of local communities, the Health Vision process was extended and streamlined into two phases.
Phase 1
From June to October 2023, VCH engaged with the public, key community groups and partners and health-care staff and medical staff on the critical gaps and challenges around current health-care services in the Sea to Sky corridor, as well as future priorities and opportunities.
All six First Nations on whose territories the sites in the Sea to Sky corridor are located and who are served by VCH health-care services were also engaged, including Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), Líl̓wat, Skatin, N’quat’qua, Xa’xtsa and Samahquam.
VCH has developed a clinical services plan for the Sea to Sky corridor and community plans for Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. Plans consider historical data and trends, industry best practices, population projections and input from the Sea to Sky community, the six First Nations in the corridor, and staff and medical staff.
Phase 2
From April to July 2025, the Health Vision Sea to Sky ClinicalServices Plan and community-level plans for health-care services were the subject of engagement with residents, community partners, staff, medical staff and the six Host Nations in the Sea to Sky corridor.
Next steps
These plans provide vision for future health-care services at regional and community levels. Health Vision Sea to Sky serves as the foundation for more detailed planning work. VCH will continue to provide updates to ensure that communities stay informed as Health Vision Sea to Sky moves into subsequent implementation phases.
VCH will continue to work with the B.C. government and other relevant partners to further coordinate, engage on and advance the recommendations outlined in Health Vision Sea to Sky.
Thank you for your continued engagement and ongoing support for the health and wellness of the local community.

I've been looking for a family doctor in Squamish for 3 years now with no success. Is there a waiting list I could get on, or other alternatives?

Hello, Vienna!
Thank you for submitting your question. We know and understand that it can be hard to find a doctor (primary care provider), and the Ministry of Health as well as VCH are proactively addressing this challenge. Government of BC has recently entered into a special agreement with the Doctors of BC – 2022 Physician Master Agreement, which is already contributing to positive change. The Divisions of Family Practice for the Sea to Sky corridor has a resource to help individuals find family physicians, and you can get more information here: https://divisionsbc.ca/sea-sky/for-residents/resources
Also, as part of the master planning process, we want to hear directly from residents and communities. Your input will inform future plans for the Sea to Sky corridor. Please stay involved in the project as we move from phase 1 to phase 2 and 3, and as we develop future plans for clinical services and for infrastructure.
