Code Blue Debriefing Project

What are we doing?

This particular engagement opportunity, the Code Blue Debriefing project, is a project led by the VCH High Acuity Unit team.

  • The project team is looking to refine the development, implementation and practice of Code Blue Debriefing across the hospital.

Code Blue is a widely recognized term used in hospitals to indicate a medical emergency.

  • The primary purpose of this project is to address the process of debriefing from a patient/family member’s perspective.
  • The project team is looking for patient advisors from diverse backgrounds to join team meetings, to offer insight from a patient's perspective.

The end goal for this project is to improve patient care in acute care settings.

The project team is hopeful patient advisors can share their experience with things such as language used around patients/families, response of medical staff during a medical emergency of where the best place would be for code blue debriefs to occur.
