Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital

As part of its ongoing commitment to the delivery of safe, quality care, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is launching Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital. This high-level planning process will consider all clinical services on the hospital campus, including mental health and substance use services, on-campus long-term care, laboratory medicine, medical imaging services, as well as non-clinical supporting services (parking, housekeeping, food services, laundry, etc.).

Once completed, Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital will help ensure that the hospital and health-care services within the campus remain aligned with the evolving health care needs of the local community and broader Sunshine Coast.

Engagement

Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital will be informed through an inclusive engagement process. VCH will be partnering with shíshálh Nation, which generously gifted the land on which the hospital site is located. VCH will also be engaging with community organizations, multiple levels of government, staff and medical staff (including agency and contracted staff) and residents from across the Sunshine Coast.

Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital, will consider community health care needs, priorities and expectations identified through the engagement, as well as best practices for the delivery of health-care services. The planning process will also consider previous planning exercises while incorporating the latest data to ensure the plan reflects current and evolving needs. In addition to this first phase of engagement, there will be other opportunities to engage early next year. VCH is committed to an open and transparent process and will share back with participants how their input was considered in the development of Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital.

How to get involved

The phase one engagement is now closed, and phase two of engagement is expected in early 2025, when there will be more opportunities to learn about the planning process and provide input. Many thanks to everyone who has provided input so far. Anyone interested in the planning process is invited to subscribe to updates.
